Lights of India is a program of events promoting Indian culture in Italy.
Each year the festival features high-caliber Italian and international artists and the celebration of Indian festivity.
India and Italy are two cradles of civilization that have been cornerstones of aesthetics and philosophy for centuries. The intercultural dialogue between these two countries aims to contribute to spiritual research and growth through the study of yoga, music, dance and theater to enhance tradition through artistic innovation.
Artistic direction: Nicolo Melocchi
This year we are honored to host Maestro Hariprasad Chaurasia, a living legend of the Bansuri, Indian transverse flute, represents today in India and around the world, a true institutional figure associated with Indian classical music and is one of the most senior exponents of this musical genre.
With a career spanning more than sixty years of intense musical activity as an international concert pianist, film score composer and distinguished recording collaborations with artists such as George Harrison, John McLaughlin, Jan Garbarek, Ravi Shankar, Zakir Hussein and many other musicians of international caliber.
Master Chaurasia is a milestone in his genre whose tradition and innovation he represents, having created his own style and school of music inspiring future generations.
Despite his venerable age of 86, Maestro Chaurasia continues undaunted to spread this musical art, giving concerts and master classes in different countries around the world.
